A Cornish Soldier killed in Afghanistan has been returned home...

Two South West soldiers have made their final journeys home today as they've been repatriated to RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire.

The bodies of five British soldiers killed in Afghanistan have been returned home.

A ceremony's taking place at RAF Lyneham, in Wiltshire.

Corporal Darren Hicks aged twenty-nine from Mousehole was killed in an explosion in the Babaji district of Helmand province on February the 11th

His widow Katie Hicks has said he was the finest husband and father you could wish for.

Lance Corporal Hicks served with 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards.

And Rifleman Mark Marshall from Exeter who worked as a PCSO for Devon and Cornwall police died while on foot patrol.

The 29-year-old from 6th Battalion the Rifles died in an explosion while on foot patrol in Helmand Province on Valentines Day

His Mother said he was a 'beloved son who lived life to the full'

Devon and Cornwall Police described him as a great character and an important part of their team

Lance Sergeant David Greenhalgh, 25, from Ilkeston, Derbyshire, died instantly when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device near Lashkar Gah, Helmand province, as he served with 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards on February 13.

Kingsman Sean Dawson, 19, born in Ashton-under-Lyne, Manchester, was shot during a gunfight with insurgents in the Musa Qala area of Helmand province.

Sapper Guy Mellors, 20, from Coventry, was killed in an explosion while he was engaged in bomb clearance operations north east of Sangin district, Helmand, as he served with 36 Engineer Regiment on February 15.

A total of 261 British service personnel have now died since the start of operations in Afghanistan in 2001.
