The driver of the truck, who allegedly drove on in the immediate aftermath, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The collision took place at 9.14am on the pedestrian crossing in Royal Parade
The driver, a 42-year-old man from Plymouth, is currently in custody at Charles Cross Police Station, awaiting interview, police have confirmed.
