Cornish Pirates pick up another Championship win

Monday, February 22nd 2010 11:30

Cornish Pirates 47-19 Nottingham

The Cornish Pirates picked up another good win yesterday..

They crushed Nottingham in the Championship by 47 points to 19

Tries came from Dave Ward (2) Blair Cowan (2) Wes Davies and Paul Devlin

Rob Cook added 17 points from his boot.

Meanwhile, the Pirates are likely to know the majority of their play off opposition by Wednesday as a result of the Rugby Football Union's latest plans for the running of the division.

In the case of the sides who have guaranteed qualification for the play offs, the RFU will now disregard the outcome of their final game, effectively meaning the Cornish Pirates game versus London Welsh is a dead rubber.

For the remaining one place Plymouth Albion, Moseley and Rotherham their final match result will still count.

It means following on from the Pirates victory yesterday, they will be seeded fifth alongside Bristol and Bedford along with whoever from that trio qualifies.

The RFU have said the decision allows clubs the maximum time to make arrangements for their play off fixtures
