Birmingham, Londonderry, Norwich and Sheffield left in the running
Cornwall Council had launched a bid to become the country's first city of culture last year.
Despite not being a city the county had been allowed to submit a bid.
It had been named on a shortened list of 14 last year but have discovered that we've not made the final shortlist
Margaret Hodge, the Culture Minister announced today that the four finalists were Birmingham, Londonderry, Norwich and Sheffield
