Crime and Drink driving continue to fall across Devon and Cornwall

New figures have shown that crime is continuing to fall across Devon and Cornwall,

The new statistics show that between October 2008 and November 2009 recorded crime across the two counties fell by nearly eight thousand, that's a reduction of seven percent.

Among the crimes that have fallen are burglary, theft and robbery, and violence against a person.

However the number of drug crimes has risen by thirteen percent, but the police put this down to increased pro-activity by officers and a number of targeted operations.

The figures also show that Devon and Cornwall is now the fourth safest place in the country to live.

Also Drink drive figures released today by Devon and Cornwall police have shown that 218 people were caught over the limit last December.

Thirty eight of those were found to be over the limit following a collision.

However these figures are down on last year when 339 were positive overall.
