Man held over internet child threat

A helpline's been set up for parents in the Falmouth and Penryn area worried their children may have been targetted by an internet predator.

Michael Williams aged 29 from Penryn was charged yesterday evening with two counts of grooming a girl aged 13-15 with the intention to engage in sexual activity, one count of sexual touching a girl under 16, one count of incitement to engage in a sexual activity with a girl under 16 and two counts of making indecent images.

He will appear before Truro Magistrates court this morning.

Police in Falmouth and Penryn are investigating after a person was arrested for innapropriate behaviour on the internet.

The 29 year old male is being held at Newquay police station on suspicion of making indecent images of children and sexual assault.

A number of young people connected with Falmouth school and Penryn college have been identified through the investigation.

Officers and staff at the schools are working closely with other agencies to offer support to pupils and families affected.
