A major incident was declared in Liskeard last night as a fire raged at a commercial garage.
Nearly two hundred people were evacuated from their homes in the built up residential area around Russel Street in Liskeard due to the risk of gas cylinders exploding.
They were cared for in a nearby pub as well as a British Legion and a community centre before being allowed to return home in the early hours.
Forty-five fire fighters and thirty police officers were in attendance.
The incident is being treated as suspected arson.
